Silence - Second Version

Silence - A Library (Books, bookcases, floor)

I have chosen this place because there are library's everywhere and they are all similar by having lots of books, my podcast could be achieved in any library in the world.

Enter a library and find your self in the history section, where you are surrounded by books.

Podcast
Run your fingers along the spines of the books. Choose the book that in your eyes looks the oldest. Reach for the book and slowly pull it out of the dusty bookcase. Flick through the pages seeing the words delicately printed flash past you. Find a place in the library where you feel comfortable. (pause) Turn to the first page of the book. Read the first sentence aloud to yourself in a soft whisper feeling every sound leave your lips. Close the book, turn it over and read the blurb and see if it inspires you, if it does ask to take the book out of the library, to take it home to devour and explore in more detail. As you exit through the library doors, leave the silence behind you and enter the sound of every day life.

Silence

Make your way into a library, as you enter remember to be quiet, a library is a place for learning and silence. Run your fingers along the the shelves which hold our history. Try and find the oldest book in the library, what is it called? Open the book and flick through the pages seeing the words delicately printed flash by. Smell the old pages to calm you. Go sit down on a chair, sofa or bean bag and read the blurb and see if it inspires you. If it does not put it back and change it, find something else that can interest you. Listen to the silence and feel the energy from others around you or is it just you, you and the books alone together, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Drop something on the floor and see if the librarian tries to shush you, what object did you drop? Read the first page of the book in your hand and pick out the words that you enjoy the most, say them out loud to yourself hearing every sound that makes up the word. Ask if you can take the book out. Take it home and read it, take it home and enjoy the language the author has used to create the text. what book did you choose?

For this podcast the generic items are the books and the librarian.

Podcast - Transcript

This is the transcript of my podcast it might not be exactly word for word because I had to listen to it and type up the words I heard after recording it.

This is a podcast for when you enter a supermarket so please try and follow all the instructions I give you.

Why don't you go get a basket, I know a trolley is better and easier but we're only getting a one item today. Lets make our way inside and don't worry about the security guard he looks at everyone like that. Noisy isn't it you can probably already see a child having a tantrum and its cold as well, you might want to put on your jumper now before the goosebumps appear. I wonder what supermarket you are in now, Tesco's?, Sanisburys? or even Morrison's?, Lots of people only got to one shop don't they? because they feel like a traitor if they go to a different one. Any way lets just go get some ice cream, 'Ben and Jerry's' of course, I know £4.50 is expensive but trust me its worth it. Have you got it? Then lets get out of here so you can tuck in! I hope you chose chocolate fudge brownie otherwise I would be quite disappointed. mmm Ice Cream...

My Podcast - Ice Cream

Ice Cream

What are the generic properties of your site? - Loud atmosphere, beeping of machines, temperature, isle in supermarket and Basket.

So this podcast would be listened to when the audience is in a supermarket. In the background are sounds of being in a supermarket but I don't think they worked and then I explain to the audience what they should do. Blogger would not allow me to put it as an audio file so I had to publish it as a youtube video.

I will add the adobe addition when I can at school

Evaluation of Podcast

I liked this podcast because with the sound effects it makes you feel like your in a supermarket however by mentioning supermarket names does not make it generic because some countries will not have those supermarkets, the mention of a brand of ice cream also shouldn't be mentioned and I also think I need to slow down and work on my pronunciation. With Braces I do find it difficult to pronounce some words however I can improve this by exercising my mouth more regularly and practising tongue twisters so that I can speak clearly when speaking quickly. Furthermore I think I needed to give them more time and give them more freedom of choice to make it a better experience therefore I am going to create a new podcast in a more generic location.

Pocasts are used to entertain and inform people. A podcast can be a simple app that you download on your phone or computer so that you can find lots of different audio clips that you can listen to whenever you want. Many podcasts contain snippets from a radio programme, small episodes of programme or factual knowledge that tell you something about what is going on now or explains some of our history.

On the BBC they have lots of different podcasts you can listen to for free:

However our podcast is going to be slightly different, the purpose for our podcast is to enable the person listening to interact with it and to be sight specific so that they will only be able to listen to it when in a specific space. It will also be sight generic so that it allows the audience to recognise things that everybody has to go thorough and recognises. This will be interesting to do because I have never done anything like it but I have decided to do my first podcast in a supermarket.
